The Air Jordan V Grape has been retro’d a few times and is an OG colorway. This version is from 2006 and still going strong!
These quickly became a classic and were sought after for many years. The release of the widely-available 2013 version has driven demand and price down for these over the years. The next year after these dropped, the Metallic V’s came out, so it can be said that the mid-2000s was a great year for Jordan 5s!
The easiest route to go is to rock these with a grey top. Then, either dark or light denim will work. If you go the white tee route, stick with a light wash denim. However, if you go with a blue or black top, it makes more sense to pair it with some dark pants. These also work well with khakis. Overall, the Grape V is surprisingly versatile with respect to outfits.
These are kind of an odd colorway to have released as an OG considering they are not Bulls colors. Still, I think this colorway is a must-have for anyone that claims to be into Air Jordan V’s. The “grape” colorway is synonymous with these shoes!
How Are The Materials?
Every retro of this colorway thus far has been pretty much going with the all-leather upper. The quality on this version is definitely up to par with releases from 2006. The leather is still holding up after all these years! The midsole paint on mine has chipped a bit, but that’s likely due to wear rather than age alone.
How Do They Fit?
I feel like the Air Jordan V Grape fit slightly large, but not too big – sometimes I can get away with going down half a size on V’s! That is definitely the case with these. I’m wearing a half size down right now and it feels like I could even size down further, but I don’t want to risk my pinky toes! Regardless, these fit like big, comfortable boats with plenty of solid support.
